Canadian Rockies: 1940

In 1940, the number of color photos in Canadian Pacific’s booklet crept up to 13 from 8 in 1939 and 1 in 1937. The front and back covers also use blue as a highlight color; this appears to be a single ink that required a separate print run.

The interior pages use cyan as the highlight color, which (since four-color photos use cyan, yellow, magenta, and black inks) allows the company to print color pages with only four runs instead of five. It still hasn’t figured out that it can blend the four basic colors to get other colors for highlighting.
