Unfolds the Wonders of the Canadian Rockies

The two color photos on the cover of this booklet are joined by a third one on page 9. For the most part, however, this booklet still uses black-and-white photos and unsigned color illustrations of tourists and scenery in the Rocky Mountains.

The illustrator who drew the train on the cover used a lot of artistic license to modernize the passenger cars. The roofs on all of the cars are smooth and almost streamlined. But a photo on page 3 shows that most of the cars on CN passenger trains still had clerestory roofs when this booklet came out. At least the locomotive, a 4-8-2 numbered 6036, is accurately depicted.

The booklet is dated 12-49, so it was actually intended for the 1950 tourist season. It has a stamp on the inside back cover with the name, H.R. Bullen, and address of CN’s general agent in Los Angeles, where this booklet must have been given out.
