More Southland Insurance Menus

These two menus were used on the same special train for the Southland Life Insurance Company to Banff. We’ve seen the photographs on both covers before, so I’m including them together.

The first menu showing cross-country skiers near the Banff Springs Hotel was previously seen on a 1954 buffet dinner and a Mountaineer dinner menu. The June 4 lunch menu inside of this copy is identical to yesterday’s.

The second menu has a photo of “winter in old Quebec” with the Chateau Frontenac in the background. We’ve previously seen this photo on a 1950 dinner menu, but that menu had a yellow background instead of the more usual white shown here. Dinner was $2.75 (about US$18 today) for a choice of fish, prime ribs, or curried chicken with the usual accompaniments.
