On Labor Day Weekend in 1960, the Railroad Club of Chicago sponsored an Iron Horse Tour from Chicago to Ogden that featured Burlington 5632 and Union Pacific 844. Presumably, the Burlington handled the train to Omaha while UP carried it the rest of the way.

This is a breakfast menu that was used on that tour. The unpriced menu offers ham, bacon, or sausage with eggs, corned beef hash, or Spanish omelet.

Finally, the dinner menu had Columbia River salmon, fried chicken, and beef pot roast.
The 844, of course, is still operating and recently joined UP’s Big Boy, 4012, going from Cheyenne to Ogden for the 150th anniversary of the Golden Spike. Burlington’s 5632 was saved from the scrapper by Ralph Budd protege Harry Murphy and used on many steam excursions, including once when it was painted gold. Unfortunately, when Murphy retired and was replaced by Louis Menk, Menk cancelled the steam program and had the locomotive scrapped.
