If you already had the other folios of scenes along the Southern Pacific — the Shasta Route, California, San Francisco, and Grandeur of the West — you might be disappointed to learn that thirteen of the sixteen photos in the Overland Route packet are found in one or more of the others. The only unique photos show the Mormon Temple (mislabeled the Mormon Tabernacle), Palisade Canyon in Nevada, and Reno.

The most popular photo appears to be of the Golden Gate Bridge. Nearly the same photo is in all of the packets, though two of them show the same scene as the other four taken from a slightly different angle probably just a few moments apart. For the record, the California folder has four unique photos; the West has five; the Shasta has nine; and the San Francisco folder has eleven (one of which, showing a Golden Gate Park windmill, is missing from my set but is shown below).

A photo of the Dutch windmill in Golden Gate Park that is missing from my copy of the Glamorous San Francisco folio. Built to pump water to irrigate park lawns and gardens, the windmill was no longer operating when this photo was taken but has since been restored. The caretaker’s cottage, however, is gone.
