Two More UP/SP Menus

Here are two more Union Pacific-style menus that were actually used on the Southern Pacific. Like other menus with photos of the San Francisco Bay Area, these two were usually used on the City of San Francisco or San Francisco Overland, but sometimes were used on other SP trains and sometimes on UP trains that weren’t shared by the SP.

We’ve previously seen the above photo on a 1963 dinner menu for a tour group. Both of today’s menus are marked for the City of San Francisco in 1964.

Both of these menus also list “T.B. Lochhead as Manager, System Dining Car Operations, Southern Pacific Lines, Oakland, California.” We’ve previously seen the above photo before on a 1965 brunch menu on UP’s Portland-Seattle trains and a 1967 City of Portland dinner menu, showing the menu cover wasn’t exclusively used on SP trains.
