A few days ago, I chided a 1952 Canadian National booklet for calling Canada’s eastern provinces the “provinces by the sea” when British Columbia (among other Canadian provinces) is also by the sea. This 1959 publication corrects that, referring to them as the “Atlantic provinces.” It also replaces what in 1952 had been a 30-page booklet with a fold-out brochure that has the equivalent of about 12 pages. While the brochure panels are admittedly a little larger than the booklet pages, the booklet still has more than twice the space of the brochure.

The good news is that all of the black-and-white photos have been replaced with color. I count 34 color photos including one of a green-and-yellow CN passenger train identified as the Ocean Limited. At least a few of the photos were taken from approximately the same locations as some of the black-and-white photos in the earlier booklet.
