Summer Outings in 1932

This booklet describes a dozen different escorted tours, most of them lasting two weeks. The least-expensive tour drops visitors at a hotel in Manitou Springs and leaves them there for ten days with a coupon book for day trips to places like Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. The most expensive tour, which requires fifteen days instead of fourteen, visits Rocky Mountain Park, Pikes Peak, takes the Royal Gorge to Salt Lake City, then heads to Yellowstone, anticlimactically concluding with a trip to Minneapolis-St. Paul.

This booklet isn’t named “Under the Turquoise Sky” but it does mention turquoise skies in the text. The cover art (which like many other Rock Island booklets is printed on the back cover) is signed “Forstneger,” which represents Frank Joseph Forstneger (1897-1975). He was a Chicago artist who seems to be best known today for painting portraits of Will Rogers that were probably used on a Gerlach-Barklow calendar.
