We’ve previously seen a 1943 steamship menu that looks like this one. Both were used on the steamship Prince Rupert and both have charcoal drawings of an Alaska scene on the front and of a Jasper scene on the back. In this case, we see Alaska natives preparing salmon for smoking on the front and tourists gazing at Mt. Robson on the back.

Inside is a “musical programme” listing pieces played during dinner, probably on a piano with, where appropriate, a voice accompaniment. Most of the pieces were popular or operatic songs written in the late nineteenth century. The program misspells the name of the composer of “The unpriced menu offered entrées of halibut, sole, calf’s sweetbreads, croquettes of chicken and tongue, lamb cutlets, prime rib, and roast turkey. These came with fruit cocktail as an appetizer, soup, vegetables, Waldorf salad, dessert, and coffee.
