Burlington Northern 1985 Calendar

In a change from previous editions that had only one photo of a train, this calendar has two: one from the former Burlington line in Illinois and one from the former Northern Pacific line in Montana. There’s also a photo of “Spokane’s clock tower”; the calendar doesn’t say so, but this is the former clock tower from Great Northern’s Spokane train station.

Another photo was taken in Glacier National Park. Curiously, none of the photos in Burlington Northern’s calendar series shows a scene in Yellowstone Park even though BN retained the former Northern Pacific line through Montana until 1987, when it leased it to Montana Rail Link.

This calendar also came with an inserted message from BN’s president and senior vice-president of marketing. By now, this “personalized” message was becoming stale since it was, almost word for word, the same as the 1984 message.
