Herb Joesting grew up in Owatonna, Minnesota, where his high school football performance earned him the nickname “Owatonna Thunderbolt.” He then became a star fullback at the University of Minnesota, setting several records in his junior year, when this menu was issued.

Joesting went on to play both professional basketball and professional football including a year spent with the Chicago Bears.
