VIA June 1988 Timetable

In 1981, the Canadian government cancelled the Super Continental and two of the three Montreal-Halifax trains, the Scotian and Atlantic, leaving the Ocean. However, a change in governments led to the restoration of the Winnipeg-Vancouver portion of the Super Continental and the Atlantic in 1985.

When the Atlantic was restored, however, the Ocean was cut back to Montreal-St. John, so passengers from, say, Moncton to Halifax would change trains to the Atlantic in St. John. This timetable reflects those changes.
