Although this booklet has a Union Pacific logo on the cover, it was actually published by the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce. Union Pacific probably ordered a special run with its logo or had the logo added later. The booklet mentions Union Pacific only briefly to note that it recently built a lodge on the north rim of the Grand Canyon.

The booklet also brags that Salt Lake City is served by four airlines: Boeing Air Transport and Varney Routes (predecessors of United) and Western Air Express and National Parks Airways (predecessors of Western, now part of Delta). This information would not have been included if Union Pacific had written the booklet.
About two-thirds of the booklet discusses recreation and tourism, but the other third focuses on manufacturing, mining, and farming. Clearly it was written as much to attract new residents as to attract tourists. To dispel fears that the state only welcomed Mormons, one page of photos even shows six Salt Lake City churches–Unitarian, Methodist, Catholic, Episcopal, Congregational, and Baptist.
