This is the same six-panel format as yesterday’s timetable, yet only two panels are devoted to trains on the Shasta Route. Two more pages cover trains between San Francisco/Oakland and Los Angeles. There’s also a half page of connecting trains to Seattle, Spokane, Astoria, and other locations with a half-page description of Shasta Dam. The other half of the cover page is a map of the West Coast.

Southern Pacific ran five trains a day between Portland and San Francisco, all on the Cascade line, in 1941. The Klamath left in the morning; the all-Pullman Cascade in the afternoon; the economy Beaver followed a few minutes behind the Cascade; the Oregonian left late in the evening, followed by the West Coast, which made all the local stops and was probably mostly a mail train.
In addition, SP ran two trains on the Siskiyou line, but they didn’t go all the way. The Rogue River went overnight from Portland to Ashland while the Shasta went overnight from Grants Pass (45 miles north of Ashland) to Oakland. While there was some overlap between the two trains, anyone wanting to connect from one to the other would have to wait about ten hours in their choice of Grants Pass, Medford, or Ashland.
