Canadian Pacific Canadian Postcards

Here are a couple of railroad-issued postcards featuring the Canadian. The first has the familiar painting by Chesley Bonestell. CP used this painting in magazine ads, on menu covers, and in brochures.

The second postcard uses a photo that was taken in the 1950s, as indicated by the older locomotive paint scheme with the pre-script “Canadian Pacific” lettering. CP usually pictured the train from the rear, both to show off the observation dome and to obscure the heavyweight tourist sleepers that stick out above the other cars between the baggage car and the first dome car on this train. Note that these don’t appear in Bonestell’s painting.
