Map of the Triangle Tour

Here’s a 1924 promotional brochure for and map of Canadian National’s Triangle Tour. The map also shows other CN lines in British Columbia and Alberta. The Triangle Tour, of course, consists of CN rail from Jasper to Prince Rupert, CN steamship from Prince Rupert to Vancouver, and CN rail from Vancouver to Jasper.

Canadian National was formed from the merger of several bankrupt railroads including the Grand Trunk Pacific, which built the Prince Rupert leg of the Triangle Tour, and the Canadian Northern, which built the Vancouver leg. According to a book about Jasper National Park, the Triangle Tour was first conceived by CN’s second president, Sir Henry Thornton, in 1922. Thus, this is one of the first, if not the first, brochure promoting the tour.
