1952 Old Faithful Breakfast Menu

Here’s a photo of Old Faithful that we’ve previously seen on a 1947 menu. Dated December 1, 1952, half of the interior menu is devoted to a claim that Union Pacific is providing “quality meals at budget prices.” This seems peculiar as inflation was only about 1 percent per year in 1952.

On the food side of the menu, two eggs, bacon and one egg, or corned beef hash with fruit, juice, or cereal, bread, and a beverage was $1, or about $7.50 in today’s dollars. That does sound like a bargain, suggesting this menu was probably used on the Challenger or other train aimed at less-than-first-class passengers.
