PRR’s East-West Fleet

This 1953 brochure briefly describes the amenities found on Pennsylvania’s “frequent, convenient, dependable trains.” The brochure specifically lists seven New York-Chicago trains, four New York/Washington-St. Louis trains, and one each between Washington & Chicago, New York/Washington & Detroit, New York & Pittsburgh, New York/Washington & Indianapolis, New York & Cincinnati, New York/Washington & Cleveland, and Pittsburgh & Chicago.

All of these trains, the brochure says, had club-lounge or observation-lounge cars for Pullman passengers. The brochure indicates that the General, Trail Blazer, Liberty Limited, Cincinnati Limited, and Spirit of St. Louis had also lounge cars for coach passengers, implying that the other trains did not.
