Shasta Route Maps and Description

This 12-page booklet provides a city-by-city description of the Portland-San Francisco route used by Southern Pacific trains in 1950. By this time, all trains went on the West Side line through the Sacramento Valley (meaning they skipped Sacramento itself).

Even though there were no longer any trains that went all the way from Eugene to Weed over the Siskiyou line, the last 2-1/2 pages also describe this line for those taking local trains.
