2000 Miles of Startling Beauty

Published in 1926, this booklet not only has a milepost guide to cities and sights along the Northern Pacific, it has the times that NP’s various trains are scheduled to pass those sites. The trains listed include trains 1 and 2 (the North Coast Limited), trains 3 and 4 (later called the Alaskan but in 1926 called the Pacific-Atlantic Express), and trains 41 and 42 (the Puget Sound-Mississippi Valley Limited, which went over the Burlington from St. Louis to Billings and the NP from Billings to Seattle). Information is also presented about sights seen from SP&S trains 1, 2, 3, and 4 between Spokane and Portland.

The 4″x9″ booklet opens up to be 8 inches wide. But the center pages unfold to a map that is 15-1/4″x9″. The PDF shows both the center pages folded (with the map peeking through) and the map unfolded.
