In 2016 I showed this cover as a missing menu, so I am pleased to be able to finally add it to my collection. Back then, I misread the text and thought it was referring a University of Idaho, but in fact it is about the College of Idaho, a small liberal arts college in Caldwell. When this menu was issued in 1950, it had a few more than 500 students; today, it has about a thousand. Among the college’s notable alumni is Joe Albertson, founder of the Albertson’s chain of supermarkets.

As I’ve noted before, UP issued at least two dozen menus featuring college and university campuses on the covers. Most of them are large state universities, so this is unusual in being a small private school. So far I’ve found at least two menus for most states served by UP but only one each for Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming. Wyoming only has one state university, but I would be surprise if there isn’t another menu for a Utah campus — either Utah Agricultural College or Brigham Young.
This lunch menu has a standard a la carte section on the left and table d’hôte section on the right. At the bottom of the righthand page it says it was used for a tour of the Women’s Missionary Federation of the American Lutheran Church, which is slightly ironic as the College of Idaho was founded by the Presbyterian Church.
