We’ve seen this cover before but with a red cover instead of orange and on a dinner menu instead of lunch. It shows a plaza behind Oregon’s Timberline Lodge with a horse standing next to a table where people are enjoying some beverage. I would hope this is not a normal occurrence as it would probably be a health hazard.

Timberline Lodge is one of my favorite buildings in the world, so it is too bad that it didn’t get into the photo. Once more, the back cover is no help as it focuses on Alaska.
The a la carte lunch menu is similar but not identical to yesterday’s a la carte dinner menu, probably more because the menus were issued at different times than because one is lunch and one is dinner. The table d’hôte menu has a strong Pacific Northwest influence as it includes Puget Sound clam chowder as one of the soups and Columbia River salmon as one of the entrées. The full lunch was $1 (about $18 in today’s money) with the alternative of a “plate luncheon” similar to yesterday’s plate dinner for 65 cents (about $12 today).
