When this menu was issued, agriculture represented “one-quarter the total value of all commodity production” in Canada. I’m not sure if the numbers are comparable, but in recent years agriculture has contributed only 2 percent to the nation’s gross domestic product. That’s not because agriculture has declined but because other sectors have grown more in value.

The woodcut on this menu is landscape mode rather than vertical mode. Note that the bottom has a bar representing an endless stalk of wheat.
