This Banff Springs Hotel lunch menu is dated July 23, 1948. At that time, Canadian Pacific kept its mountain hotels and some other tourist lodgings open only in the summers. Today, of course, they are open year round, with Banff and Lake Louise offering skiing instead of golf.

For $1.75, this menu offered table d’hôte meals with entrées of cod, ham omelette, sweetbread cutlets, lamb, cold roast beef, chicken salad, or a fruit place. The a la carte side was also extensive with a dozen hot entrées and a “Banff Springs Special,” which was shrimp curry.
