Although this shows the Hotel Vancouver on the front, it is actually a 1939 dining car menu for the Mountaineer. While we’ve seen plenty of menus for the Royal York, Frontenac, Banff Springs, and Lake Louise hotels, one featuring the Hotel Vancouver may be unusual. This could be because the other hotels were solely owned by Canadian Pacific while the Vancouver hotel was jointly owned by CP and CN and thus not as lucrative for cross-advertising.

This menu has an a la carte section on the right side and beverages on the left. The table d’hôte menu was printed on an insert that was paperclipped on the left side over the beverage menu. Full lunches were available for 75 cents, 85 cents, or a dollar, depending on how many side dishes came with it. Multiply by 13.5 to get today’s prices in U.S. dollars.
