The back of this menu tells a story of the rivalry between the tunnel-digging crews from the east with those from the west over which one dug the most. It doesn’t say anything about how Denver politicians conned the state legislature into paying for the tunnel, or how the cost overrun for the tunnel was 300 percent. Nor, on the positive side, does it mention that engineers managed to drive the longest tunnel in the western hemisphere with only a 1-1/4″ error.
