The locomotive in the image, however, differs from the actual locomotives in that the image shows a feedwater heater above the smokebox. While Rio Grande had a few locomotives like that, such as this 2-8-8-2, they weren’t 4-8-2s. So I’m guessing that the artist who colored the cover photo modified the picture to make it show Rio Grande’s newest passenger power before that power had actually been delivered, and used an incorrect model. That would date this booklet to 1926 before the locomotives were delivered.

Inside, some of the pictures are new while others are based on the same black-and-white photos as in the earlier edition. However, the coloring is significantly different, suggesting a new colorist using a much brighter palette.
