Missouri–Kansas–Oklahoma–Texas

Oklahoma wasn’t part of the name of the MKT or Katy Railroad, but it had to go through Oklahoma to get from Kansas to Texas. Although the railroad’s herald was officially red and black, the company saved a little money by printing this note pad with just red ink.

The trains pictured on the note pad appear to be the Texas Special, a bright red-and-stainless-steel train operated jointly with the Frisco between St. Louis and San Antonio. This train began operating in 1915, was streamlined in 1948, and continued in one form or another until 1965.
