Is this a note pad or is it a fake? We’ve seen the slogan, “America’s Most Modern Trains,” before, and the image on this page is of the Golden State Limited, but it is strange that the pad doesn’t mention that train by name.

A Northwest rail fan once printed up a bunch of replica stationery and note pads. To help the discerning collector distinguish between his fakes and the originals, he conscientiously added a random string of printer numbers at the top, such as the “3-57-800M.” Ordinarily, I might say this was printed in March, 1957, but–as he pointed out–railroads never put such printer numbers on note pads. So this is probably a replica.
