The steamboat on this menu no doubt represents New Orleans, the eastern terminus of the Southern Pacific’s Sunset Limited. In 1937, a similar steamboat was operating between San Francisco and Sacramento in competition with SP trains, but Southern Pacific advertising would not have featured such competitors.
