1937 Steamboat Menu

The steamboat on this menu no doubt represents New Orleans, the eastern terminus of the Southern Pacific’s Sunset Limited. In 1937, a similar steamboat was operating between San Francisco and Sacramento in competition with SP trains, but Southern Pacific advertising would not have featured such competitors.

This menu is dated September 1937 and is notable for having just five entrées on the table d’hôte side instead of six as in previous lunch menus in this series. The a la carte side is unchanged.
