Pennsy’s Washington-New York service was down from 20 trains a day in 1950 to eleven in 1964; Chicago-New York was down to five from eight in 1950; the Chicago-Washington Liberty Limited was gone and instead two of the Chicago-New York trains split at Harrisburg and went to Washington. Chicago-Florida service was down to one from two trains, with an additional train going as far as Louisville.

Another thing missing from this timetable is the Grif Teller painting on the cover. Teller had done his last annual calendar painting for the Pennsylvania in 1959. Instead, this cover used a 1961 artist’s conception of the Unisphere at the New York World’s Fair, built by and prominently featuring the logo of U.S. Steel, an important customer of the railroad.
This timetable is from the collection of the former railroad executive whose family has generously allowed me to scan timetables, menus, and other items in that collection.
