Streamliner/Cocktail Shaker Beverage Menu

We’ve seen this menu before, but I’m pleased to show this slightly different edition collected by Jack Hamilton because it is in better condition. It also lists E.C. Webster as UP’s dining car manager, dating it to sometime between 1936 and 1940.

The previous one didn’t list a dining car manager but its prices were a little lower than this one. In this menu, for example, mixed cocktails were 35¢ to 50¢, while they were all 30¢ in the other edition. That makes me think this one is newer. If so, the other must date to 1935, the first year UP operated its streamliners.

Here’s what the menu looks like on the inside. It’s hard to imagine someone was creative enough to figure out that the silhouette of the locomotive could be turned into a silhouette of a cocktail shaker.
